What is a saliva collector

99% of human saliva is water, followed by substances such as amylase, peroxidase, mucin, phospholipids, phosphoprotein amino acids, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. These substances have the functions of digesting food, antibacterial, and protecting gastric mucosa.

Benefits of using saliva samples: Compared with blood samples, saliva samples are easier, more convenient, safer, painless, and non-invasive. The method of collecting saliva samples reduces the risk of contamination and adds the convenience of sampling and inspection. The subjects sampled by themselves.

The saliva samples collected by the saliva collector can be used in the saliva preservation fluid to replace blood DNA and are widely used in epidemiological research, characteristic medicine, drug response monitoring, genetic disease diagnosis, disease probability prediction, and healthy life counseling.

Saliva collector is also called saliva sampler, saliva collection device, DNA saliva collection tube. Saliva collection will not cause any discomfort to the sampled person and is easily accepted, so it can greatly expand the sampling range of DNA genetic research.

product manual:

The saliva collector is composed of a funnel, a sampling tube, and a preservation solution. The funnel can send saliva directly to the non-toxic stable buffer. There are clear graduation lines on the surface of the saliva collector. The unique funnel design can prevent backflow, and the sampler is very convenient and convenient for sample transportation and storage.

The saliva collector can be used to collect saliva samples secreted by the oral cavity, and evenly mix the collected saliva with the saliva preservation fluid, ensuring the integrity of the DNA in the saliva sample and the long-term storage at room temperature. After the sample is extracted, it is used for clinical in vitro diagnosis.

Collection method:

1. Gently spit 2ml of saliva into the saliva collector

2. Pour the preservation solution into the saliva and tighten the lid

3. Tumble up and down to mix the saliva and preservation liquid evenly

4. Put the sampling tube in the biosafety bag for inspection

5. Discard the funnel.

Note: Because the DNA is not extracted from the saliva itself, but from the exfoliated cells contained in the saliva. Therefore, when collecting saliva samples, please try to scrape the upper and lower jaw with your tongue as many times as possible, and use your teeth to scrape the tongue a little to ensure the number of exfoliated cells.

It is recommended that the first thing that happens in the morning is sampling to ensure the sampling success rate, because eating, drinking, smoking and other behaviors in the past 30 minutes will affect the sampling success rate.

The most convenient way to collect DNA for genetic testing is to use a saliva collector, followed by blood. It is a relatively popular detection method at present. Saliva contains a large number of DNA saliva cells, so it can greatly expand the sampling range of genetic research.
